Texas A&M Institute of Renewable Natural Resources

At the Texas A&M Institute of Renewable Natural Resources, our work is about improving the conservation and management of natural resources through interdisciplinary and applied research that engages policymakers, land managers, and citizens.  We have five programmatic focus areas listed below.

Land
Our Land Program promotes sound land management practices by translating science and providing education and technical assistance. We support the value of private land stewardship and promote responsible and sustainable land use practices.

Water Resources
Our Water Resources Program focuses on the application of timely research and outreach efforts to encourage sustainable and secure water resources for humans and wildlife through watershed restoration, land management practices and policy innovations.

Wildlife Conservation
Our Wildlife Conservation Program conducts problem-driven research addressing today’s challenging wildlife and habitat management questions. We promote stewardship of wildlife populations, including game, nongame, endangered and threatened species, and their habitats, through the application and translation of sound science and outreach efforts.

Military Sustainability
Our Military Sustainability Program supports the testing and training activities on U.S. Department of Defense lands through land management and regional planning, research and policy innovations, and education and outreach efforts. These efforts support the twin imperatives of military readiness and land conservation stewardship.

Energy
Our Energy Program successfully brings together regulators, industry, academia, environmental organizations and the public in implementing safe and environmentally friendly energy production practices.

Gulf Coast Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit
We serve as the host for the Gulf Coast Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, a partnership among 11 federal agencies and more than 30 universities and nongovernment organizations that facilitate the development of collaborative research, education, technical assistance, and capacity-building programs focused on regional natural resource and environmental issues. The Gulf Coast unit is part of the national Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit Network.
