Wildlife Habitat Assessment Program

The TPWD Wildlife Habitat Assessment (WHAB) Program provides online information to assist project developers in identifying, evaluating, and addressing potential impacts to natural resources of conservation concern in Texas.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is required by law to provide recommendations to local, state, and federal agencies that approve or construct development projects. The TPWD must provide information on fish and wildlife resources to any local, state, and federal agencies or private organizations that make decisions that could impact these resources. Project types reviewed by TPWD include reservoirs, highway projects, pipelines, urban infrastructure, utilities, renewable energy, and residential and commercial construction.
