The LandScope America website is a work in progress. In addition to comprehensive nationwide information, like much of what you can already find via the map viewer, we will include extensive state-by-state information, found on state home pages like this one. Because Minnesota is one of many states where we are still working to develop all of the needed maps, stories and other content, currently you’ll find only summary information here. Minnesota Conservation Summary
A landscape formed and reformed by ice, water, fire and humans, Minnesota lies at mid-continent, at the intersection of North America's prairie, eastern broadleaf forest and boreal forest. And, now, the destruction and fragmentation of habitat from development, compounded by the threat of climate change, are also taking their toll. Fortunately, the citizens of the state consistently support the conservation of the prairies, forests and wetlands that mark the landscape in this Land of Ten Thousand (and more!) Lakes.

Minnesota Wildlife Action Plan
Minnesota's opportunities for fishing, hunting and wildlife-watching are world-renowned, with participation rates among the highest in the country. A natural diversity of wildlife, however, is critical to supporting a healthy ecology, economy and society. The state's wildlife action plan identifies a set of species in greatest conservation need and creates a conservation approach that seeks to ensure the survival of all Minnesota's wildlife for future generations to experience and enjoy.
