Virginia Natural Heritage on LandScope

Virginia's Natural Heritage Program, like so many, was founded on a land conservation mission.  For so many years we broke new ground, but all the while faced criticism that we did not share natural heritage data.  It was tough getting information from those paper maps and files into the hands of land trusts, local governments and others.  For Virginia, LandScope represents a wonderful opportunity to further our effort of taking raw data from the field, and transforming it into conservation information put to use by land trusts and other land conservation organizations, citizens, local governments and others.  LandScope is helping Virginia enrich and expand our effort to place conservation lands and open space resource information in the hands of the people that need it, as well as helping bring to light the many discoveries yet to be made.
