With its wide range of landscapes, waterscapes and habitat diversity, Connecticut is home to a variety of terrestrial, freshwater, estuarine and marine species. The challenge of balancing the conservation of these habitats and species with cultural priorities requires smart planning and an informed and committed public. The state's Wildlife Action Plan identifies the species and habitats of greatest conservation need, and defines the conservation actions and research required to conserve them, thus serving as a comprehensive guide to the conservation of wildlife in Connecticut for the next decade.
