Pacific Coast and Puget Sound
Washington’s marine environments are home to a wide variety of ecosystems and habitats: deep marine waters, eelgrass beds, tidepools, rocky bluffs, dune systems, estuaries, and long, sandy beaches. Iconic marine species found in Washington’s marine waters include orcas, octopus, salmon, starfish, sea anemones and more. In addition, the state's large intact estuaries serve as feeding grounds for migrating shorebirds.
