Plants and Animals
Pennsylvania’s residents share the Commonwealth with nearly 17,000 native species of plants and animals. They live on forested ridges, in our streams and rivers, and lurk in our deepest caves. Several play important roles in our economy, while many more are vital for providing the services that keep our air and water clean. Our native species also add to the beauty of our state.
