Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
Established on July 1, 1995, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is charged with maintaining and preserving the 120 state parks; managing the 2.2 million acres of state forest land; providing information on the state's ecological and geologic resources; and establishing community conservation partnerships with grants and technical assistance to benefit rivers, trails, greenways, local parks and recreation, regional heritage parks, open space and natural areas.
DCNR's Vision: As Pennsylvania’s leader and chief advocate for conservation and outdoor recreation, we will inspire citizens to value their natural resources, engage in conservation practices, and experience the outdoors.

Recreation & Conservation
The DCNR Bureau of Recreation and Conservation (BRC) builds connections between the citizens and the outdoors through recreation enhancement, natural resources conservation and community revitalization efforts.

Pennsylvania State Parks can help you find information for planning a one day picnic or hiking trip, a weekend getaway, or a vacation. Pennsylvania State Parks do not charge an entrance fee.

Topographic & Geologic Survey
The Pennsylvania Geological Survey has been examining Pennsylvania's geology since 1836, and always with an eye toward meeting the ever-changing needs of the times.

Facility Design & Construction
The Facility Design and Construction bureau's engineers design and manage construction projects for bridges, water and sewage systems, swimming pools, beach areas and dams in the state parks and forests.

The DCNR Bureau of Human Resources is committed to providing high quality and timely human resource services that assure a high performing, diverse workforce that excels in achieving DCNR goals and objectives and serving commonwealth citizens.
