North Pacific Dry-Mesic Silver Fir-Western Hemlock-Douglas-fir Forest

This is a dominant forest system in western Oregon and Washington, usually supporting mixed forests of Douglas-fir, Pacific silver fir and western hemlock. These are giant conifer forests, with trees often over 250 feet tall if undisturbed. The understory is variable, including shrubs, forbs, or ferns, and extensive down logs and snags.
