Our Mission

The Atascadero Land Preservation Society (ALPS) is a local, private, non-profit, 501(c)(3), conservation organization whose mission is to preserve environmentally significant, undeveloped open space and natural land located in Atascadero, California. ALPS acquires land by outright gift and through purchases financed by grants and cash donations. Since ALPS' founding in 1989, the organization has been responsible stewards of the land it has acquired by providing fire hazard reduction, weed abatement, exotic species and litter removal, restoration, trail construction and maintenance, and natural resource protection. ALPS opens its properties to the public for recreational and educational purposes where consistent with its mission of preserving the natural environment.
