Project Description
Calvary Cemetery prairie in northern St. Louis is the last fragment of the city’s once extensive grassland heritage. The goal of the partnership is to restore and sustain a diverse, viable prairie remnant, and to integrate this resource into the fabric of local and regional life. MDC staff developed a five-year plan for intensive restoration and reconstruction, with the goal of managing the prairie unit with prescribed fire and occasional perennial weed control by the 2017.
