South Mountain, Pennsylvania

The counties surrounding the A.T. along the South Mountain are some of the fastest growing in Pennsylvania. They are within close proximity to the major population centers of Harrisburg, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. While much of the Trail lies within the Michaux State Forest, many of the viewsheds and watersheds remain unprotected. The South Mountain Partnership is recognized as a model for leveraging community engagement for greater conservation purposes.
