Northern Virginia - Greater Harpers Ferry Area

The A.T. passes through an area of significant cultural and natural resource values. Opportunities exist to connect existing public lands and enhance the protection of cultural sites and the Potomac and Shenandoah watersheds. Beautiful views and important habitat outside of the protected corridor remain at threat due to land conversion. This area in under increasing development pressure as population centers surrounding the greater Baltimore/Wash. D.C metro areas push further west. The Blue Ridge Conservation Alliance is an emerging coalition of partners representing both local and national organizations focused on landscape protection in northern VA from Shenandoah National Park to Harpers Ferry, WV.
